Checking In Again

Hi folks!  I've missed you and feel like I haven't been online in forever.  We have been sooo busy.  I just wanted to show you a few pictures of where we are at the moment; we'll be heading home tomorrow.  I've had a wonderful adventure, but I miss our bed and Mr. Duncan.  ;)

We're currently in the beautiful, old city of Savannah, Georgia.  Wow, what a fascinating place!!  We're staying in a private residence that is part of the historic Savannah Bed and Breakfast Society.  I believe the house was built sometime around 1880; I'll have to check the plaque out front again tomorrow.  We have a little suite of rooms with a private entrance on the back of the house.  It's also pet friendly.  :-D  I'll have to take a picture of the exterior tomorrow.  I love this pretty bedroom -- so much personality and charm!

The bedroom looks onto this enclosed porch --

I would love to have this fireplace in our home.

The darling dressing room --

The sitting area also has two rattan chairs.

This is one end of the little courtyard garden outside our suite.

We took a trolley tour of the historic part of Savannah today after breakfast.  This is a fascinating city with so much history.  The tour was very well done; it lasted an hour and a half, and we felt like we got our money's worth.  Now for the down side --  the temperature reached 99 degrees and the heat index was 111 degrees around 2:00 p.m.  We were well and truly cooked.  Because the heat and humidity were so brutal, we simply couldn't stand to go back out and visit the sites we had planned to visit and photograph.  We came back here and spent the afternoon in the air-conditioned suite.  It stormed here around 6:00 p.m., and things cooled off a lot after that.

We really hope to come back to Savannah at a cooler time of the year so we can see more of the city.  There are some wonderful shops here, but we didn't manage to fit those in either.  We had also planned to visit the Bonaventure Cemetery, so we'll try to plan a return trip, maybe in the fall.  I gather it's been hot at home, too, but maybe not quite this hot?

Thank you for visiting House at Forest Manor.  I have some new readers to visit when we get home, along with some of my very dear blogging friends.  I sincerely hope you're all doing well and staying cool!  Hugs to you all --

Denise
